Ya nadie mira a la luna,
la luna ya no es de nadie;
ya no la cubren de besos,
ya no la bañan con sangre.

Ni ya le escriben poemas,
ni ya le clavan puñales;
ya no hay tragedias de amores,
ya no hay amor, no hay amantes.

Ya no es de nadie, ni es luna,
la luna que ahora nos sale;
porque es un círculo sólo,
y sólo un círculo errante.

La luna no será luna
sin corazones que amen;
sin pensamientos que vuelen
y sin poetas que canten.

Pero los hombres son otros
y otras las cosas que valen;
y otros los ojos que miran
y otras las formas de amarse.

La luna no será luna,
porque la luna es mirarse:
asesinar con los ojos
hasta el dolor de la sangre.
