The human being and the Universe

in #cervantes6 years ago

For more than a couple of millennia the human being asks about himself, his origin, his place in the Universe, the meaning of his existence ...

For centuries these questions have been tried to respond from various points of view, mythological, religious, philosophical, scientific ...

Mythological

Various cosmogonic interpretations, in different parts of the world and at different times, offer stories of the most varied and curious to explain the appearance of the human being on Earth and the reason for its existence. Some of these stories are true works of literary art and a treasure of the cultural heritage of humanity.
Religious

Closely related to the mythological realm - for one thing myths are said to be "the religion of others" - all religions offer their version of events, each with its own nuances, but more or less with the same essence if we circumscribe ourselves to the three religions that arise from the scriptures contained in the Old Testament, and more specifically to the Book of Genesis.
Philosophical

From the Greeks of antiquity to contemporary philosophers, through the philosophers of the Roman, Chinese, or Islamic tradition, men of thought have tried to explain the origin of life on Earth, always bounded by scientific knowledge and by religious doctrine, sharing elements of both, since philosophy is by definition as an area that moves between the tangible (physical) and the intangible (meta-physical)
Scientific

It is the most recent point of view. It just has a couple of centuries of existence. Among some of the people who study this field of research, it is mentioned what certain theoretical physicists call "the cosmic absurdity". In a very abbreviated way, that absurdity consists in the following. There are two possibilities: (1) that the Universe has a Creator and (2) that it does not. In the first case, it is a position of religious sentiment and therefore alien to scientific thought. In the second case, it implies that there is an effect without cause, or "a painting without a painter", which is also a reasoning alien to scientific thought.

That is to say, for theoretical physics, the cosmic absurdity occurs when two possibilities exist about "creation" and both are alien to scientific thought.

In short, the point of view that has transmitted the scientific-academic sector is summarized in this long statement: life on Earth is the product of random combinations bio-chemical, together with a process of genetic evolution of which the human being is the most evolved of living beings since it is who has adapted to all the latitudes of a planet that is part of a cold universe, lifeless or uninhabited, and full of poisonous gases.

However, the theory of the evolution of species, is - as the name suggests - a theory, not a scientific law, as it is, to give an example, the law of gravity. Therefore, as a theory does not just answer the question incontrovertibly and allows speculate with the gaps that exist in its formulation.

Likewise, the knowledge we have about the Universe is still very limited, and that gives rise to all kinds of conjectures, theories, hypotheses, etc. And among them, there is another point of view that states that the human being is a creature whose Creator is also of a Universe that he probably created full of life.

They are two very different conceptions of the human being and the Universe. The fact of being both equally possible serves to be aware of both how much we have learned and how much we ignore.

Fortunately, the more advanced the study of science and scientific thought, the more questions arise to let the imagination fly.

Or put another way, when scientific knowledge closes a door, two hundred are opened.
