El mundo donde vive Wade es muy sombrio y distópico, sus padres murieron cuando era muy pequeño y vive con su tía, Wade no encuentra felicidad en el mundo real, solo la encuentra en OASIS, no solo él es el único en entrar, muchas personas entran al OASIS para jugar, socializar y ganar dinero, tras lanzar el concurso con un video viral de Halliday diciendo que ya está muerto explica los detalles del concurso para encontrar las llaves, deja pistas que son las mismas memoria de Halliday para encontrar las llaves y tener el control de OASIS.
Compañías como IOI dirigido por un ejecutivo no muy agradable solo quiere el control por el dinero, la decisión de Wade de ganar el concurso era en un principio por el dinero, pera tras conocer a Ar3mis en el primer evento de la primera llave, cambia de parecer, OASIS es más que un simple juego, ha calado en el corazón de millones de usuarios y también del mismo Wade quien se decide a salvar OASIS de la compañía IOI. Durante la película podemos ver y escuchar parte de la banda sonora bandas como Joan Jett y los Bee Gees y demás personajes y objetos de los ochenta como el vehículo Derlorean, la máquina del tiempo del Doc de la película Volver al Futuro, la moto de Kaneda de la película AKIRA que utiliza Art3mis durante la carrera del primer evento del concurso y al clásico Gigante de Hierro, también si no eres de los ochenta, podemos ver personajes muy queridos de los videojuegos de la nueva generación, podemos ver a Goro de Mortal Combat, Tracer de Overwacth, Jim Raynor de Starcraft, Master Chieff de HALO, el Capitán Sheppard de Mass Efects, y en mi opinión el avatar del líder IOI se parece mucho a Senador Amstrong, un villano del juego Metal Gear Rising.

La película es muy entretenido y muy emotiva, nos recuerda que los videojuegos no son simples sistema de entretenimiento, sino que independiente mente los videojuegos son parte de nuestra vida nos marcan para siempre, lo que nos hace recordar lo mucho que amamos nuestros videojuegos, las vivencias que compartimos y vivimos con ellos. La película fue estrenada en EEUU el 29 de marzo de 2018, la productora de la misma fue Warner Bros. Y fue dirigida por el talentoso Steven Spielberg, la misma contaba con un presupuesto de 175 millones de dólares, y ha logrado recaudar 554.984.504 dolares.
