Cervantes Magazine Number 17: Music
As time goes by, our generations are adapting to the day-to-day functionalities and also to sex, lust and taboo that comes with them, always prone to disappear from the face of the earth. Who would say that something so natural is so apparently forbidden and involve so many factors to speak freely about it?
”From the Latin luxurĭa, lust is the disordered and unlimited appetite of the carnal pleasures. The term is often associated with uncontrollable sexual desire, although, in fact, it also allows referring to the excess of other types of things. Lust is linked to lasciviousness, which is the impossibility of controlling the libido.”
So, in short, many of us associate lust to sex; right?
Luckily, if there’s something that we have never had any taboos about, it’s in art. Stories of eroticism, artistic nudes, the body and the naked gaze expressed in a painting. Music, as I have explained countless times, also lends itself to endless memories, moments and in this case, fantasies.
Lust is related to many chemicals in the body which are responsible for providing us with a feeling of "fever" and desire to ... you know what I mean, you know. Has it never happened to you that when you hear the voice of, say, Nick Cave, it causes you excitement?
Have you never felt a strange tingling when you hear a song by Lana del Rey? With those voices in the background mixed with lot of reverberation and sexual innuendo ...
It’s more than clear that music awakens different chemicals in our being such as adrenaline, endorphin, dopamine, serotonin and others. There are songs that awaken that reptilian instinct, that which is very far from our rationality and can stand out when we are in full sexual activity with someone. And if there’s music that turns you on, Imagine having sex with music! It is a unique experience that we all must try with the right person and a playlist full of iconic and sexy songs.
On this occasion, I asked some Discord chat users which songs, groups or even singers, manage to excite these chemicals just by hearing them.
These were some of their answers:
@Alileon recommended this one. And yes, Pescado Rabioso had the gift of creating a piece with a very soft rocker tone, perfect for striptease ... don’t you agree?
Nick Cave has the power to "wet panties" with his voice, as mentioned by our dearest @dcaroa.
@david.delatierra mentioned Die Antwoord, an African duo characterized by being controversial with their videos and sexual themes.
@soykatonline told us about a couple of songs, but I wanted to highlight “Follow me down”, given that Taylor Momsen has one of the most sensual baritone voices of alternative rock.
I’m personally adding one , Lana del Rey has one of the most sensual voices of pop music, that's why I put this song, since aurally tends to evoke a lot of lust.
Another lustful tune for a good session of love and pleasure? Of course It’s got to be "I want you (she's so heavy)" with John's torn cries, almost imploring the body of the person that drives him crazy, added to that guitar playing in the background ... Who would not turn on a little with this song?
We could spend the whole day talking about Hooverphonic, Portishead, The Beatles, Massive Attack, Soda Stereo with "Entre Caníbales", Fito Páez and other artists that would produce a lot of effects, from tickles, to ... much more.
what songs makes you lustful?
