We all know this, YouTube is one of the largest platforms on the Internet, attracting a billion users every month, but YouTube has tightened its policies to control the content that users publish. This is because the advertisers themselves do not want to be related to content that can be considered sensitive, and this has become a contentious issue, as they have established rules to determine what kinds of videos can be monetized and which ones cannot, the latest conflicts who have had many content creators with YouTube administrators / moderators left the environment very dense, and precisely in the midst of all this chaos BitChute was born.

What exactly is BitChute?

It is a social platform for video sharing, powered by the BitTorrent network and based on the P2P (Peer To Peer, peer-to-peer network in Spanish) information exchange system, whose objective is to offer greater freedom to content creators, without censorship and no content filters.

It was born with the intention of offering an alternative to YouTube and other video platforms. The idea behind this network is to offer a space free from the growing censorship that is beginning to be found in social media that follows the ridiculous trend called "Fake News", which uses habitual actions such as channel closures, demonetization, expulsions , and as well as the continuous algorithm changes that seek to "hide" certain content.

At the beginning in its beta stage, to create an account an invitation was required to test the platform, however, it is already possible to create an account without having to receive one. The interface of the network is very simple, with a main page where the featured videos appear and a simple menu where you can choose between the most popular videos, the channels to which you are subscribed, the featured videos or a page on the one that shows all the videos.

In this sense, one of the great drawbacks of this platform is that by not having content filters or moderation of any kind, it has become the ideal refuge for certain extremist groups, as well as for populist dialogues and politically incorrect content. , which does not have space on any other platform, this has attracted the attention of journalists who accuse the platform of being a shelter for extremist content, due to its policy of neutrality.

Beyond the "toxic" content that journalists focus on, BitChute offers a space for all kinds of video content such as news, live broadcasting of events, talks, webinars and all kinds of educational content, with channels dedicated to offering guides on business, gardening, health and much more.
The creators of the platform have also said the following: “The idea comes from seeing the increasing levels of censorship in the large social multimedia platforms in recent years. We knew that creating a clone was not the answer. Many have tried and failed, and it would inevitably grow into an organization with the same problems. "

One of the main obstacles for these types of platforms are the tremendous amounts of bandwidth they consume, and this is accompanied by large bills for hosting services. Along with its philosophy focused on freedom of expression, BitChute proposes to do things differently.

BitChute uses WebTorrent, a system that allows you to share videos from the browser, without installing or configuring anything, thus reducing the bandwidth consumed and allowing the platform to function without having to make large investments in buying its own servers . In this way, the videos have a pair counter and a small delay from when "play" is pressed, until the video begins to play, something that is not annoying.

To access a video, just click on the thumbnail. The video opens, in a page similar to YouTube, with the video and its controls integrated in the center, among which the possibility of changing the screen size and social options, a lower area with the description, stands out. and the comments.
BitChute does not have earnings based on ads since it has been banned from the Google Adsense functions due to its policies, which led the platform to sponsor Premium, accept donations of cryptocurrencies, and support pages such as subscribe to stay online.

This website is not inspired to become one of the main torrent-type alternatives to YouTube, BitChute according to its creators is a response to YouTube's policies that it has been applying to users these years, the loss of income in the monetization of videos , the restriction when talking about certain topics, and the general discontent of the content creators are the pillars of this new alternative.

The censorship on Bitchute is terrible, though. It's just about as bad as YouTube, already. The problem is, it's the same model as YouTube. Just a bunch of corporate owners who care about the bottom line. They both claim to be anti-censorship, but both delete videos, shadowban channels they don't like, and control the narrative. Bitchute stops uploads on topics it doesn't like, even if they don't break the rules. It's just another (smaller and newer) YouTube.

Decentralization is the cure for censorship, and that isn't found at Bitchute.
