Good for him. We had Chinese people come to steemit. They were pretty gung ho a couple of months ago. They created the channel on steemit.chat #anarchism and then locked it so no one could join. I managed to sneak in so it was me and the one Chinese guy that created the room. So he locked one of the most popular topics on steemit, I assume because it is anti-government. I quickly created the channel #anarchy there so that it could not be locked and that one is alive and kicking.

So you see they've even attempted to censor what they can here. It only impacted steemit.chat though and as you see we quickly got around that.
