The Wembley stadium is a soccer stadium located in the borough of Brent in northwestern London, England and was opened in 2007 after the original stadium was demolished. It is owned by The Football Association,the governing body of English football whose headquarters is in the stadium.

The stadium has a capacity of 90,000 seats, a partially retractable roof, a 134 metre high arch and a field size of 115 by 74 yards. It 9s the largest stadium in England and the second largest in Europe with the camp nou in Barcelona, spain being the first.
The Wembley stadium is the home of the England national team and a temporary home of Tottenham hotspur a soccer club in the English Premier league who are currently building a £400 million stadium. Like Tottenham hotspur, another club in the English league Arsenal f.c has also used the stadium as its temporary home.
Apart from England Home games and FA cup finals, the stadium has hosted many other soccer games including 2 uefa champions league finals but the most historic of all the games is the 1966 fifa world cup final between England and West Germany where England saw off their opponents four goals to two. Three of those four goals where scored by Geoff Hurst and this remains till date the only hattrick scored in a world cup final and the only world cup trophy for England. This world cup final was also the last to be broadcast in black and white.

The stadium is constructed inna manner that every spectator has a clear and unobstructed view of the pitch. Before its reconstruction (which cost £798 million but £1.09 billion today) and reopening in 2007,the Wembley stadium was formerly called the British Empire Exhibition Stadium or the Empire stadium and was opened in 1923 before it was demolished between 2002-2003. The stadium is also used for other sports events like rugby and musical events or concerts.
