Our attitude in darkness
Hello everyone
By today's theme on the today's #celestialchallenge initiated by @sirknight , we talk about Darkness
Darkness as we all know means lack of illumination, but in terms of our lives, darkness signifies trying times, time of being lost in ways and being in the state of oblivion. The time of darkness is a time which everyone experiences periodically. With the wrong attitude in such times, one is likely to come out of it very slowly and also not get the true lesson from it. But with the right attitude, the true purpose of one coming across such times will be known and coming out of it should be with less struggle.
Our attitude during dark times should be based on the fact that God will see us through it no matter how consuming it may seem. Taking Job in the Bible as an example, His whole world crumbled in the blink of an eye yet, he remained steadfast for he knew the source of his wealth and prosperity would see him through the tough and rough time Job1:13-19. He got discouraged by the people around him, but he did not listen to them for the assurance was in his heart. All this happened without Job knowing that God did allow satan to afflict him, so his love and faith in God could be tested. With the right attitude, Job came out of his time of darkness with victory Job 42:12-16.
Job 1:13-19 ESV
"13 Now there was a day when his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house,
14 and there came a messenger to Job and said, “The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding beside them,
15 and the Sabeans fell upon them and took them and struck down the servants[c] with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”
16 While he was yet speaking, there came another and said, “The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”
17 While he was yet speaking, there came another and said, “The Chaldeans formed three groups and made a raid on the camels and took them and struck down the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”
18 While he was yet speaking, there came another and said, “Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house,
19 and behold, a great wind came across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young people, and they are dead, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”
Job 42:12-16
“12 Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.
13 He also had seven sons and three daughters.
14 And he called the name of the first Jemimah, the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-Happuch.
15 In all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers.
16 After this Job lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations".
The right attitude in the time of darkness is maintaining your stand and belief in God, with the certainty of coming back into the light in a matter of time.
