FORCES OF NATURE: HOW HURRICANES FORMS!

On today's daily celestial challenge, being thursday the theme is paying tribute to the 'forces of nature'.

             How Hurricanes Forms

Hurricanes are the most violent storms on earth.
It can start off as a moving thunder storm, they feed off the warmth and moisture of the ocean. The air rises then to form more storms and its replaced constantly by the surrounding air.
Below all this air rising, low pressure develops rotating counter clockwise of the CORIOLIS EFFECT (earth's rotation).

The storm will keep growing as long as it has these key ingredients;

  • Water temperature at or above 79degrees

  • Ocean water and land

  • High pressure above It.
Weak flow or lack of vertical wind shear above a hurricane is vital to keep it intensifying.

             THE EYE OF AN HURRICANE

It forms as air rotates up and out of an hurricane and some of the air is lost at the top of the storm and goes back to the center, keeping the eye (center) calm and clear.

The most violent part of an hurricane surrounds the tranquil eye, called the eye wall, the most intense wind speed are in the eye wall and can extend out from the storm center.

The most destruction in an hurricane comes from the eye wall out to the right quadrant.
Therefore the wind speeds inside the hurricane plus the forward motion and the storm surge put together is a recipe for disaster.

             THE CORIOLIS EFFECT

Thick storms spin overtime as they travel in the northern hemisphere, they spin counter clockwise bit in the southern hemisphere they spin clockwise.

A storm rotation is due to the coriolis effect, a phenomenon that causes fluids, water and air to curve as they travel across or above Earth's surface.

Earth is constantly spinning from west to east, the center of a hurricane has low pressure, while the high pressure of air surrounds the center or eye of the storm which is constantly rushing towards the low pressure void at the middle but as a result of the coriolis effect, the air rushing to the eye is deflected off it's course.

In the northern hemisphere it is deflected to the right and spin in counter clockwise rotation while in the southern hemisphere it is vice versa the storm spins left in a clockwise manner.

Wow photo!! Just wow

Learned a couple of new things from this. And those beautiful photos just makes it better. Good post!
