The Trap of Fame

in #celebrity8 years ago

Celebrities represent the average worldview, taste, opinion — this is after-all why they are celebrities.

The tragedy lies on the fact that celebrities don’t really represent anyone other than the overgeneralized image that others have crafted from them. Whether celebrities are politicians, actors of singers they are but an illusion. In reality they are just empty shells that the public’s opinion randomly feels to gratify its own false aspirations.

In essence all celebrities are puppets stripped from their identity, ridden with contradictions and lies. This is how they become and remain famous. In order for one to become famous, one has to reject what makes them unique.

For most people, actors, politicians, singers constitute their entire reality. For the average folk that is slaving away an 8 hour routine. Celebrities have become our modern spiritual leaders, the essence of our reality. Whether the realm of influence is science, religion or politics those who routinely follow celebrities, quote excessively and hold as a goal to follow their paths, are people who have given up on being individuals and rather seek a cheap salvage through the wonderland that the zombified collective has laid down for them.

Flashy clothes, political correctness, properly structured language, fancy credentials, making sure none is upset.. This is how harvesting of social acceptance takes place. This is how the individual dies on the altar of fame.
The reason so many people mourn when famous people are gone, is simply because they feel that they lost part of their self.

Those who envision the world through the eyes of others have stopped living life themselves.
