I would like to share my entry for the first contest that @steemph.cebu hosted. My entry was inspired by Mayon Volcano's recent eruption in Albay Philippines. I saw a photo of the mayon volcano spewing its lava and thick ash clouds during the super blood moon. I was mesmerized by the photo because of the very beautiful scenery of the Mayon Volcano and the nostalgic feeling that the blood moon is giving on a starry night in Albay. I entitled my entry as "A Beautiful Disaster". It was indeed a beautiful disaster, knowing the fact that Mayon's recent eruption has caused a lot of damages from the people in Albay especially to those who lived near the volcano. It may be dangerous but you can see how beautiful the volcano was crying out its lava at night. Its lava were shining like fiery gold that no one dares to touch nor even see it closer. The mayon is one of the most active stratos volcano in the Philippines and the authorities were still unsure if there will be a major eruption. So, let's all pray for the people in Albay Philippines.

Here are the process and guidelines of my artwork.

1st
Since, I used watercolour as my medium. I brushed my watercolour paper with water and spread it to the whole sheet then brushed it with color blue. Make a fading effect while brushing the paper with water.

2nd
Add another shade of blue. I added the shade Ultramarine blue and cobalt blue then brush it with water 'til the paper is really damp. Add another Ultramarine blue but you don't have to brush it off instead just put drops of the color then raise your paper upward slowly. Let the colors flow and mix on its on by tilting the paper upwards and sideways. I personally just discovered this technique now and the effect is amazing.

Then add the colors blue, violet and cobalt blue then repeat process 2.

4th
Tear a piece of tissue then slowly tap it to your work. This technique is for the smoke cloudy effect from the volcano. I also added a white color to the tissue to make it thicker.

Then let it dry for about 5 minutes or so.

5th
When its dry, start painting the landscape with Black for the shadowy effects then green afterwards.

6th
Draw an outline of the volcano. The color I used is a mixture of ultramarine blue and black. Then fill it with rhe same color. I added an ultramarine blue to math the color of the volcano with the starry night.

(My bro. took a photo of me while I was doing this. Gosh,I still hadn't take a bath 😂😂)

I added some yellowish color so that it looks like the lava is reflected to the clouds

Then added the color of lava which is bright orange and red orange. I just put a drop of the color because it will scatter on the paper

For the stars, I used a flat brush and a white poster paint.

The stars were not visible so I changed it again. I then used a white acrylic paint so it will be visible.

Cover the volcano with a paper so that it will not be sprinkled with white. You don't want to ruin your work, don't you?

Next, is painting the tiny blood moon.

I wasn't able to take a photo of the next process of the moon but I paimted it with yellow, red, white and gold. I also painted some gold on the lava.
