Basílica Menor del Santo Niño de Cebú during SINULOG festival

Basílica Menor del Santo Niño de Cebú which also means Minor Basilica of the Holy Child of Cebú is one of the best tourist destination or spots in Metro Cebu, philippines.

This historical church is locally located excatly in Osmeña Blvd, Cebu City near from Fort San Pedro (18th-Century Spanish port before but now a Museum).

Before we proceed, I just want to give short important details about what does SINULOG festival really mean.

What is SINULOG festival?

The word "Sinulog" comes from the Cebuano word adverb “SULOG” which means " Water current movement" that is either forward or backward movement and exactly describe the movements or steps in SINULOG dance.

Also, SINULOG festival is exactly all about a ritual dance festival in the honor of the miraculous image of Señor Santo Niño.

We Cebuano people devoting and honoring the miraculous image of Señor Santo Niño because we greatly believed that through him we can borrow some strength (Phsically or Mentally) to continue and pursue our dreams into reality.

I mean if you have faith on something you greatly believe in, you can able to work peacefully and positively.

How's your experience?

I can totally say that SINULOG festival is a very tiring activity I've joined so far

We walked for many kilometers with the thousand devotees for almost 4 hrs and we actually sacrifice our time and strength despite of rains.

Tho it is very tiring, walking with friends will make your strength no exhaustion because you are very free and comfortable talking and smiling with them. 😍 We also do laughing sometimes.

We sacrifice for our dream to become a SUCCESSFUL ENGINEERS soon.

Some people also showed thier devotions through simple lighting of candles in the church. You can light up candles as a representation of your wishes you want to achieve or problems to forgive.

I also remember that Basílica Menor del Santo Niño de Cebú is one of the place where I usually go when I have a problems such as examinations, family problems, health problems and even emotional problems.😇

During SINULOG festival , Basílica Menor del Santo Niño de Cebú is also one of the most occupied place you will visit.😇
