A Walk Along Torrenostra Beach

Hello friends. I want to tell you about my walk along the coastal area of the town of Torreblanca. This place is called Torrenostra. As both the beach and the coastal setlement share the same name. I wanted to explore the area to see what interesting things are around and share them with you. We are on the Mediterranean coast. This is the Costa del Azahar, which belongs to the province of Castellón.

Right where we parked the car, there was a huge olive tree. And a cute little playground, making it a lovely, tree lined and shady spot. Residential complexes line the surrounding area. I even saw ads put up on the way here. New complexes are being built as well. This is quite a new area, both in terms of tourism and the general architecture of the buildings. As a result, word hasn't spread that much yet, but it’s getting more popular with each passing day.

Right next door is Alcossebre. Those who know the area will recognize it. In recent years it has become quite famous in the Valencia region. Thanks to its clean beaches and amenities. This place is virtually identical. No industry, nothing at all. Everything is wonderful and fully focused on tourism. It features beautiful streets lined with apartment blocks and private villas.

Speaking of the beaches in Castellón, they are quite long and wide. That’s why you won’t see crammed crowds here. There is always plenty of room for everyone. By the way, it gets quite windy here fairly often, but at the same time, it cuts through the summer heat and refreshes you.

The beach features showers and foot washing taps. Areas for various games have also been set up. There are volleyball nets and exercise equipment here and right at the beginning of the beach, there's a huge playground. It really is exceptionally well equipped in terms of infrastructure. There are changing cabins and coastal cafés are lined up right next to them.

As for the distance it is exactly 46 km from here to Castellón de la Plana, the provincial capital. Public transport also runs to Torreblanca. Torreblanca is the main center, home to over 5700 people. By the way, along with the coastal residents, this is considered the municipal center and it’s only 3 km away from this beach area. So it’s not 5-6 km away, it’s very close, just 3 km in total.

There are climbing areas for children. I even spotted a watchtower built between 1610 and 1611. Back in the day the entire coast of the Valencian Community was lined with towers like this. These towers were used to signal the approach of enemies or pirates. Pirates used to live quite comfortably in the Balearic Islands and launch raids on the coastal areas. Sometimes, retaliatory expeditions were even carried out against them. Neighboring municipalities had similar towers as well and they would alert one another this way whenever enemy ships were spotted.

Right by the seashore, there is a small palm garden that was specially planted. This is the coastline but right behind it lies mountainous terrain. Further ahead is a natural park. All comercial activities and construction are strictly forbidden in this protected natural park. However, walking inside is allowed, which is really a pleasure.

There isn't a large harbor here, but there are a few boats. From this point on, there are very charming houses. Compared to what I described at the beginning of my post, these buildings are a bit older. Still cafés are right beside them and the beach area is literally right at their doorstep.

In my opinion this is a really charming and fascinating area. A clean, quiet and peaceful spot on the Mediterranean coast. That’s all from me for today. It’s time to say goodbye. Take great care of yourselves, see you in my future posts.
