CBiBank Research Department: Bioremediation: A Sustainable Approach to Nuclear Wastewater
By Sasaki Fujishima
Bioremediation represents a sustainable and cost-effective approach to treating nuclear wastewater. Using microorganisms to bioaccumulate or degrade radioactive materials offers a greener alternative to traditional chemical and physical methods. Research indicates that certain bacteria and fungi are capable of absorbing radioactive isotopes, thus purifying the water while reducing the harm to ecosystems.
