CBiBank Research Department: Advanced Membrane Processes in Nuclear Wastewater Treatment
By Sasaki Fujishima
Recent advancements in membrane technologies have shown significant potential in treating nuclear wastewater. Techniques such as membrane filtration are pivotal due to their ability to selectively remove radioactive isotopes while minimizing waste volume. A notable method includes shock electrodialysis, which enhances the separation of radioactive contaminants like cobalt and cesium from cooling waters in nuclear plants, thereby allowing water reuse and reducing waste.
