Caturday at the shelter
I went past the local cat shelter today and snapped a few pictures.
A shy one that wouldn't let me near
Although the pictures are cute and it seems a nice idea to allow the cats to roam freely, in practice it means that the cats get to share all their diseases too. This is why the cat I asked her to take in died of Panleukopenia

These 2 kittens both have Feline herpesvirus
This friendly cat seems healthy enough, perhaps she had been vaccinated before she reached the shelter.
It commendable that the cats are taken care of, otherwise their would be nowhere else for them to go and I suppose that the real issue is that people should not treat pets as something to be discarded when its no longer convenient to keep them. Or allow cats to breed, because "kittens are cute".
Helping homeless cats is a big problem. In cities, there are practically no places where cats can walk freely.
A few volunteers try to help cats on the street, bringing them food, and also try to identify them in shelters or people who are ready to take care of them.
Yes, many people try but the problem is so large

Son muy lindos esos gatitos. En mi país, es terrible la proliferación de gatos. Se ven demasiados en las calles. y con esta situación que vivimos en la actualidad, ya nadie los proteje. Es triste.
It sounds so bad for humans , let alone cats :(
I am still trying to tell my friend to take the stray cat at her house to see the vet. Very difficult to make some people make the effort! Sigh!

I fear that Feline Herpes Virus is what we are dealing with. Our Vet mentioned it, but did not seem to be to concerned about it..... WTF.?!

Most cats have had it, it's extremely common and you just have to treat it symptomatically. A yucky eye is not major in the spectrum so I am not surprised that the vet didn't seem too concerned
