Warning, may trigger some. If you have a cat, research it.
So This is a cautionary tale to all cat owners, If you have a beloved feline friend, or several, Do your research.... I had to watch my cat vomit blood and die in my arms tonight over a very small mistake. well actually two of them. first one being i gave my cat some garlic in its food the last few days because garlic is a natural antibiotic and my cat caught a upper respitory infection from a friendly stray thats been living on our deck. the upper respitory infection in most cases is never fatal to a animal on its own unless its a young kitten with no immune system or a older cat or a already sick cat eg has cancer, diabetes etc. Well my cat was the model of good health until it got the respitory problem, But little did i know garlic is highly poisonous to cats. Also essential oils are dangerous for cats, and we use essential oils in our home. so best we can figure is tho normally URI are not normally fatal, that coupled with the fact i fed it some garlic, and our house has essential oils, its just couldnt handle all 3 problems at once, So for the love of god research your cats before you make the same heartbreaking mistake i did.... i removed the essential oils from our home and put the garlic up in a cupboard to make sure the rest cant get into it. And i wont be allowing them near the stray even tho its very lonely and friendly and likes having friends.
there is a whole host of everyday things that are poisonous to cats
Caffeine (coffee, soda, tea)
Chives
Chocolate
Garlic
Grapes
Onions
Raisins
Xylitol (found in sugarless gums, candies, toothpastes)
Yeast dough
Aloe
Azalea
Chrysanthemum
Hyacinths
Lily
Marijuana
Mistletoe
Poinsettia
Rhododendron
Tulip
Detergents
De-icing salts (which pets may walk through, then lick from their pads)
Dog flea and tick medication
And this is just some of what ive found as i was researching tonight to try to figure out what the hell happened to my cat in a matter of 48 hours, 2 days ago it had sniffles, today, i got covered in blood and watched her convulse till death in my arms. very sad and hard lesson that i hope i can save a few others from dealing with :(
that is an important reading, thank you for the job done...
Feel free to resteem it, the more people read it the better cause i would hazard to guess lots of owners dont know half these things, i didnt
