Caturday, the search for Pepper / ペッパーを探して...

I thought it was a hot day.

I had my front door open as usual.

I saw off my husband and my youngest daughter to the swimming pool and my other daughter had just left to her part time job.

I sat down at my desk as usual and focused on my sketch book for a while.

今日は結構暑い日だと思っていた。

いつものように玄関を開けたままにし、主人と次女がプールに行くのを見送り、長女はバイトへ出かけて行ったところだった。

家の中が静かになったので、絵を描くのに集中出来た。

I realized that something was missing.

Where is Pepper?

She usually doesn't go too far away from the door and If I close the door she meows to come in.

ふと、何かが足りない事に気付く。

ペッパーはどこだろう。

ペッパーは普段、玄関を開けたままにしておいても何処へも行かない。

まだ外にいるのにドアを閉めてしまうと、驚いて中に入りたがる。

I closed the door.

But this time she didn't come to the door.

I looked everywhere...living room, bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, closet, on top of book shelves, behind TV, under my desk, under the sink.

I looked outside by the front door and all over the court yard where we share with neighbors.

No sign of Pepper.

ドアを閉めた。

ペッパーは来なかった。

家中さがした。

リビング、キッチン、寝室、バスルーム、クローゼットの中、本棚の上、テレビの後ろ、机の下、シンクの下。

我が家は3階だが、玄関を出るとご近所と共同の中庭になっている。

そこも探した。

ペッパーの姿はなかった。

Balcony door wasn't open.

Did she follow my husband and my daughter out?

I looked everywhere back and forth and back and forth.

Where is Pepperr???

I called her name, shook the treat bag, I asked a few of my neighbors if they have seen her...but no sign of Pepper.

My heart started racing.

I called my husband but no answer...of course, he was swimming.

About 20 minutes has passed.

It seemed longer.

Then, this caught my eye.

この日、ベランダのドアは開けていなかった。

主人と次女が出掛ける後を追って行った？

何度も何度も探した。

ペッパーはどこ？

何度も何度も名前を呼んだ。

大好きなおやつの袋も振ってみた。

ペッパーの姿はなかった。

近所の住人もペッパーの姿は見ていないと言っていた。

心臓が痛くなってきた。

主人に電話をしたが出るわけがない。プールに入っているのだ。

探し始めて20分程たっていた。

あるものが目に飛び込んできた。

It is a cardboard doll house.

I bought it for my daughter at the begining of the summer.

My daughter is supposed to colour it but she got tired of it.

Here is a living room.

段ボール製のドールハウスだ。

夏休みに入ってすぐに次女に買ってあげたものである。

色を塗るようになっているのだが飽きてしまったらしい。

こちらがリビング。

the bedroom.

寝室。

Ha!!!

あ...

I found her.

She was sleeping in this kitchen.

Why would she sleeping in there on such a hot day?

I guess it wasn't hot enough.

Didn't I call her name many times?

Was she so sleepy even for a favorite treat?

She is so cat.

I would like my 20 minutes back.

いた！

ペッパーはこちらのキッチンにいた。

すやすやと気持ちよさそうだ。

こんな所で...今日は暑いと思っていたが違ったのだろうか。

というか、呼んだのだから出てきて欲しかった。

大好きなおやつもいらないほど眠かったのか？

全く、猫というやつは...

私の20分を返して欲しい。
