\ CAT COMMUNICATION /

It's good to know what's in a cats head for your safety and theirs. The different sounds and body language they give off will tell just that.

Easy Tells a cat is friendly

  • Purring ... Easy one, cat is friendly and relaxed
  • Tail straight up in the air ... Friendly greeting to humans and other cats.

Easy Tells a cat is NOT happy.

  • Growls, snarls, hisses and spitting ... Could be for offence or defense. ... Definitely mad about something.
  • Arched back and raised hair on back. ...Done together means the cat feels threatened.

My cat Dexter will use the growls, hisses and spits to communicate. Not to say he doesn't have a lovable side.
