Having cats in the house could change your life!
Three years ago, I adopted a young orange cat who was crying under a mango tree. She was very nice and friendly and all alone in the field. I had to bring her home with me. Then someone noticed that the cat was getting fatter and fatter! In fact, she was pregnant. So, one day she disappeared into the bushes and cane back very thin. We couldn’t locate her kittens until one day she bright her one month’s old kittens into our garden.
I was so glad to see three healthy orange kittens. But the stray dogs belonging to my neighbours a few hundred meters up the road came into our garden in search of food. They chased all the cats away one day when there was no one around to chase them away. I was very upset as all the cat and kittens disappeared.
It took almost a week for the mother cat to come back home looking very hungry. Then one small kitten appeared, that’s all. I accepted that two kittens were killed by those dogs. I nursed the two poor things into good health again. After about ten days, a small kitten with a wound in the back above its leg came back. I realised that she must have been hiding with a deep wound which made it impossible to walk for several days. She was very skinny and looked so poorly. Luckily we could get her back to good health again.
My life was very much occupied with worries about my cats safety and their well being. As these were semi wild cats, they didn’t allow people to touch them, except the mother cat who trusted me from the beginning. It took me almost a year to get the growing kittens to trust me.
Taking the cats to be neutered at the vet created unexpected problems. I had to leave my cats at the vet, so when they came back, they could not recognise the scents of returning cats. One cat disappeared from the house after returning from the vet, she previously had three lovely kittens whom she no longer recognised.
Luckily the aunty cat looked after the three kittens, two orange and one white. However, the first orange cat rejected the three kittens which came back from the vet. She decided to migrate to my other neighbours’ house. I was glad she was well looked after there. They are very fond of her as she’s a very clever cat and understand our language.
I didn’t know why the aunty cat stated to go on her expedition in other village on her own. She came back a few times to eat and rest. Then she went off again, the three kittens started to follow her. One times, they got lost and it took them several days to arrive home covered in brown mud. I had to clean them up.
My white cat went to the next village and got killed by a pack of stray dogs. One local villager saw what happened and buried my white cat. Now I am left with two orange cats. I hope they will live in my house happily for many years. I always get worried about them when I had to leave them for several days. They have become a part of my life and when one cat disappeared, a big hole was left in my heart!
Wishing you all a very nice day!
Cheers.
