What Is Your Opinion About Eating Cat Meat

in #cats6 years ago (edited)

Hi Steemians

While we happily enjoy eating cows, chicken, sheep, goats, lamb and pigs; We aren’t so keen on eating cats and dogs. While many people are revolted by the idea that these animals are still consumed in some parts of the world. Many people eat stray cats for years. There are also plenty of pets that are kidnapped for human consumption. In some cultures it is believed that eating dogs on the warmest days of the year, helps beat the heat. While in other cultures it is believed that eating cats meat in the winter keeps the human body warm. But here again, the blame comes on the food industry who is making billions every year. It isnt a survival matter anymore, but all about money. Every year thousands of street cats are snatched up from the streets and sold to local restaurants and street food vendors.

People are different and look at things differently. While I find eating cats offensive, many others do not believe it is morally wrong. It is same with rabbits or pigs. Some people keep them as pets, while others eat them without hesitation. While the most people see them as cute little pets others look at them as Sunday dinner. I have a slightly different perspective. If you absolutely must eat another animal, it makes no difference if you eat a rabbit, a cat, a dog or a pig. There is no point in treating different animals unfairly. Eating rabbits but loving cats. That is typical hypocrisy. As the culture changes in many countries and more people are starting to have cats as pets and become very attached to them, the newer generations don’t typically eat cats, so it’s something that will most likely completely die out within the next years. Hopefully!

Taiwan has banned the selling and eating of cats and dogs after a series of cruelty cases that caused widespread outrage. The new Animal Protection Act will see anyone selling, eating or buying the animals for consumption facing fines of up to £6,500. Those found guilty of animal cruelty could also receive a huge fine of £52,000 and two years in prison. Taiwan is the first Asian country to crack down on the practice.

Wow I love what Taiwan as done here and in my opinion this practise is horrible and I dont mean just for cats but any pets and animals, the problem is there is basically too many people and I also feel in general everybody should be eating less meat as it will help with their diet, if this does come from a older generation and it will stop in future that would be a good start.

It's never a good idea for me

It is very sad :(

I agree. If you are a carnivore (as I am) one animal should be treated exactly the same as another. Of course, if it comes to seizing someone's pet--that would be a whole different matter.

Absolutely. Stealing peoples pets and selling them is terrible :(

I hope there are stiff fines for that in Tunisia, as there are here!

We dont eat cats and dogs here. We keep them as pets. They are a bit luckier here :)

I didn't mean decent people...I meant criminals. We have people here who will do just about anything just to be evil.

Very good article to discuss, some people (myself included) Let's see so cruel to eat a cat or a dog, but we do not have the luxury of eating a cow or a pig! What a crazy world !!

It is really a crazy world. Many people have this problem.

This really bothers me, hope it will stop...

Yes hopefully :(

I have never eaten cats meat.. Tell me more @hanen.. Amd maybe you should consider taking part in #caturday callenge
