Radiographs: Front Leg Fracture Due To Gunshot In A Male Cat.

S: This 5 years old male cat went missing since last Sunday. The owner found this morning in his backyard. The cat is now limping on the left front leg.
O: Patient was BAR. No evidence or murmurs or cardiac deficits.Lungs sound clear. Good hydration status. Normal neurological status. On physical exam noticed two open wounds on the left front leg with evidence of bone exposure. The radiographs of the affected leg show a distal radial and ulnar fracture surrounded by metallic objects.
A: Bone fracture due to gun shot.
P: (1) Sedation
(2) Flushed and cleaned wounds
(3) A support bandage was placed in an effort to protect and stabilize the fracture.
(4) Injectable antibiotics and pain control medication.
(5) Clent education: An evaluation by a veterinary orthopedic surgeon was recommended.

Unfortunately, this is a common issue here in the state of Georgia. In this case, the owner suspects the neighbors shot the cat because of a land dispute.
