IS HE AWAKE?

This is my cousin Cot. He sleeps a lot; even now as I type, he is snoozing on the back of his human's couch.

We cats generally sleep as much as 16+ hours a day in varying cycles of dozing and REM sleep. Our ears can move as little radar dishes listening for sounds, so that if the need be to escape quickly, we can! Sometimes, we even sleep with our eyes open, which is what it looks like he is doing in this picture (or maybe, he had one too many!)

We dream too, often with our whiskers moving, bodies twitching and feet moving as if we're in hot pursuit of our prey!
We even snore, but I won't admit that in public. So next time your kitty is napping, watch them for a bit for some insight into cat sleep.
