CATS AND SNORING

This is my cousin Cyle whom as you can see, is sleeping almost under the Christmas tree!

I heard my cousin's human mom laughing at him and when I paid closer attention to what she was saying, I realized it was because Cyle was snoring! A lot!

So that got me to thinking about why we snore. Just like humans, we can snore due to funny sleeping positions. Most Persian or Brachycephalic type cats, (we aren't of that particular variety) who have flatter faces will snore because their nasal passages are shorter and their longer soft palates are more prone to it. Overweight cats can also have snoring problems.

You should pay attention to how often and how long your kitty snores. Look specifically for signs of illness, such as wheezing or coughing and whether there is discharge from the eyes or nose as this could indicate medical reasons for the snoring. If you notice your cat sitting with it's neck extended and breathing rapidly, you might should consider a trip to the vet as this could be an indication of breathing difficulty and distress.

Fortunately for Cyle, none of these are an issue-he is just NOISY! MEOW!! Have a purrrrr-fect day!

Hah... cute, though! We had one who snored... particularly when she rolled over on her back and would get really comfortable.
