So recently my cat died. I lost him to a terrible liver disease and I couldn't do anything about it anymore because it was too late. Maybe if I noticed a little earlier,
he would still be alive now.

Cats are always the sophisticated and proud kind of animals. Seldom do you see them beg for your attention unlike dogs. They just lay around and mind their own business but when they start to seek for your attention, you can suspect something is wrong.

5 SIGNS THAT YOUR CAT IS SICK

1.) WEIGHT GAIN / WEIGHT LOSS

I'm not a vet but once you see your cat getting thinner or bigger, you will always suspect that your cat is sick. When getting thin, you'll notice their hip bones are more prominent and their stomach just looks saggy and thin.

When getting fat, you'll first notice their stomach getting bigger together with their neck getting fluffier their backs getting more broader.

2.) MESSY / CLUMPY COAT

When you cat has stopped grooming or "licking" himself/herself, you'll suspect that something is stressing your cat. Cats are very meticulous groomers. So when you see that their coat isn't healthy check for other signs. Do not give them a bath yet, consult your vet first since they might be sick or feeling cold. Wiping them with a clean towel temporarily can help but til then, take your cat first to the vet.

3.) PALE GUMS

Pale gums may indicate dehydration, poor circulation or an underlying disease. It is important to check this regularly. You may also want to check paleness on the ears and around eyeballs.

4.) HEAVY, FAST & SHALLOW BREATHING

Unusual breathing patterns are also very important because your cat might already be catching his breath maybe because of an enlarged organ. A cat may also be in hiding when experiencing this because he/she wants to be in a relaxed state.

5.) DILATED EYES

A cats pupils should be of the same size, depending on the light that reflects on his/her eyes. When the light is directly to their eyes, the pupils would be constricted or appear thin, while dilated when the cat is in a dark area or at nighttime. When your cat is sick, the pupils are dilated and remain dilated.

So if your cat has one or more of these symptoms, get them to a vet right away. Early detection of a disease may save or prolong your cat's life.
