DEXTER an Introduction...
DEXTER is my long haired gray and white male pussy cat. Dex was found locally wandering around in someones backyard. He was just a baby by himself, maybe four weeks old. Here is a picture back then.
Dexter was brought to a local shelter where I was volunteering my services. I had lost the best cat I ever had the year before (MOE), and felt I had to offer my help to homeless cats. Moe was just two years old when his life ended. The story of Moey and his two brothers (LARRY and CURLY) may be told at a later time. Baby Dexter needed to be fostered, so I jumped at the opportunity.
At this time Larry and curly were three years old. So I had to put Dex in a separate room until he could hold his own with the big boys. .... another picture back then...
I had to bottle feed him at first, then introduce wet /dry food' This was a learning experience for me. Once he started eating dry he went into overdrive. It was like putting rocket fuel in your car. At this time I had fallen in love and couldn't give him up. I never ment to find a replacement for Moey, no cat could. He was released into the house as soon as possible and then the fun began. Dexter did not grow up with siblings so was stunted socially. Larry and Curly did not except him. Curly in fact would chase him all over the house screaming in his high pitched voice seemingly trying to kill him until little Dexter would hide where they couldn't fit. Dex thought this was fun, unless he got caught. This is when Dex made sounds I had never heard a cat make before. WOO WOO then woo woo again. That is his trade mark call. Must he the breed.
Dexters all grown up now but still much of a loner. That is until mommy cat and her four babies arrived. But that's a whole another story. Here are some recent pictures of Dexter to end the story. He may look like a hug gable pretty boy but he is tough son of a gun..

Last one with mommy cat.. aka Good Girl aka GG....
Dexter turned out to be a beautiful cat! Thank you for taking him in. I'm a cat lover myself. I have 3 indoor cats and a stray pregnant cat that showed up at my place in the country. (She was probably dumped.) I used to foster kittens for our local humane society, but I ended up getting too attached to all my fosters, which made it very, very hard to take them back to the shelter. I am following you to see more of your posts. :)
Thanks for being so caring to our furry little friends. I'll follow you back. Maybe you can help me with questions on outside cats. I have a nursing mom cat with babies that may be to big to tame.
Definitely! My mom cat (Ethel) has mainly been hanging out in the garage, so I'm going to set up a box with blankets in there so that hopefully she'll use it when it comes time to have her kittens. I want to keep them safe from the predators we have out here in the country -- mainly coyotes. I will definitely post on here once she has them! :)
Cool
so cute
You bet he is.
yeah
What a wonderful story and what a beautiful cat Dexter grew up to be! I'm always happy to hear stories with such happy outcomes. I'm now following you and looking forward to hearing about Dexter's 'romance', if that's what it is, with Mommy cat---they make a stunning pair in any case.
Thank you for dropping by and appreciating my little Dexter story. It's really in the middle of the full cat experience I've had so far.
Supercute .what a beauty
Thank you
So sorry to hear about Moe. Dexter is a cutie pie. His beautiful blue eyes changed colors when he grew up? He still has pretty eyes. I enjoyed your story.
Larry, Curly and Moe? You must be a Three Stooges fan!
Thank you. Yeah I will never forget Moey... They fit their names, no brainer. All baby cats have blue eyes , then turn if not blue.
I didn't now that all baby cats had blue eyes. We sure do have a lot in common. I used to volunteer at our local animal shelter and I was also a foster Mom. That is how I got JB.
I grew up in NYC and couldn't have furry pets. Didn't get my first "stray "cat until over 40.
