So, who trusts governments? They can, and do, inflate the value of fiat money every year. All we need is another big financial crisis, and the whole system goes down. There are no more financial buffers. People will no longer believe in the current system, and they won't want to help out the big financial institutions yet again. The USD/EUR/YEN etc can crash hard.
I think about 90-99% of people trust government to go after them if they break the law. Right now it appears they will be able to continue to regulate cryptos but we shall see. Bitcoin does seem like an investment opportunity though.
