Was listening to American Top 40 with Casey Kasem on Sirius XM's 70's on 7 this afternoon... and Casey told a fun story...
A travelling performer with a couple of small hits had a crowd involvement schtick in his show based on his song, "Skinny Legs and All"... it was a skinny legs contest. One night the winner was dancing on his stage lifting her skirt and flashing her skinny legs, and she darn near fell off the stage. The singer leaped forward and caught her, saying out loud, "I gotcha".
He saved a fan AND came up with the title of his next song, said Casey in that mellifluous voice. It was Joe Tex, at one time the chief adversary of one James Brown (they had quite a heated rivalry), and that new song became his biggest radio hit.
As I listened, I decided that even though it is a nifty, funky ode to romantic pursuit, it probably crossed the line into just plain stalking. :-)
You decide. Here's the music video, in all its early '70's glory.
