Theory: Why Rick doesn't use Mr. Meeseeks

in #cartoon7 years ago
Hi! I'm Mr. Meeseeks! Look at me! I've been tasked with today's spoiler alert. Ooh yeah! Can do! All you have to do is watch S1E5 Meeseeks and Destroys! There is a bonus episode where look at me I'm in it! Continue reading to discover what it is, 'cause I'm Mr. Meeseeks! *Poof*

I always wondered why Rick never uses Mr. Meeseeks. It could be that he is annoying, but I would that any day if they can cook and clean. So I did some searching, and couldn't find anything (I didn't look to hard), so I decided to come up with my own theory... or theories.

1. Rick wants the satisfaction of doing things

Rick could enjoy the fruits of his labour, and likes to get his hands dirty. This could have been the reason. One flaw though. Why isn't anyone else using Mr. Meeseeks? So I decided to go deeper.

2. Rick's tasks are too complicated

Jerry shows us that you can't ask Mr. Meeseeks for a complicated task. They just end up wanting to kill you instead. This is a great scare tactic for why the family wont use him. Rick on the other hand would probably like the challenge. Plus he is too smart to come up with a task too complicated. Maybe it's a little bit of theory 1, and 2? However, it just didn't feel right so I continued.

3. Mr. Meeseeks' death feels like losing a family member

If you pay close attention all Mr. Meeseeks look slightly different. Also after Jerry took 2 strokes off his game all the Mr. Meeseeks "Poofed" except one who was a stickler. This tells us that even their personalities are different. To Mr. Meeseeks, and the one who gave them a task, every Mr. Meeseeks is completely different. Kind of like how cats are very similar, but to the owner their cat is unique.

This sounded good. However, Rick doesn't get emotionally attached (except C-137), and the family doesn't seem to grieve the loss of a Meeseeks. I felt like I'm on the right track with the deaths though.

4. The "Poofs" is a defense mechanism

As soon as a Meeseeks come into existence they are in excruciating pain. It keeps on building, and the only way to make it end is for them to complete the assignment they have been enslaved to. The "Poofs" (Both at the beginning and end of their existence) sends a signal to the user brain to become uninterested in Meeseeks.

It makes sense since Rick dreaded the thought of using a Mr. Meeseeks to open Jerry's mayo. Both Beth, and Summer become uninterested in Meeseeks the moment their task was completed. This was before they went murderous. Jerry who had the most interaction with Poofs wanted nothing to do with them. He didn't even care that they were writhing in pain.

However, at the end of the day it's still just a theory.

Comment below. What's your theory? Do you agree with mine? Why or why not?

Bonus: In S2E2 Mortynight Run there is a Mr. Meeseeks in the background of Blips and Chitz. This brought life to a theory to come.

HAHAHAHA WHERE IS SEASON 3!!!

Come on mcdonalds and get with the game....we want the sauce.

Man I really hope McDonalds does that.

I know waiting sucks, but I rather have good content then something that is rushed. You can't really rush Rick and Morty.

Im happy waiting, and I think Mcdonalds will do what is right lol. But it doesn't matter because it gives me time to re watch the other seasons anyways lol.

Wow! You're getting deep.

My brain can't handle this sort of philosophy at this hour.

Haha yeah. I get night shifts for watching our kid. So I got mother better to do sometimes lol.

One wrong move and they are dangerous. And the deed has to be perfectly done. Or they kill you. I wouldn't use them either lol.

Yeah, it clean dishes though.

Yes but we have all had that problem of stick on foods, or breaking a plate. I can see how in imperfections of life can set a Meeseek off into rage because it cannot complete a task.

Haha true. I'll give you that one.

I just see them breaking a plate creating another to fix it, wash it again just for it to chip off another piece then create another to fix that problem and if they don't get it perfect they try to kill you. Just never use them lol

Rick has a portal gun that can take him to an infinite number of universes. He could find an infinite number of worlds where he's already king. He could kill himself there and take any of them, or find one where he died and step in to take his place, like he and Morty did after they blew up the world.

Rick already has technology that's thousands of years more advanced than Earth has now. He could sell any one of those inventions and become a millionaire, but he doesn't. Why? Probably because he already has... more or less.

He's traveled to the end of space and time and enjoyed everything existence has to offer... and got bored with it. This (and the death of his wife) is why he's so depressed and alcoholic. The joys of the world have lost all meaning to him. In one episode, Rick gives Jerry $500 to buy ice cream without blinking. He can't even remember the word "dollars" because money is so unimportant to him.

Living life with infinite powers is like playing a video game with an ultimate cheat code. Our struggles give life meaning, not the rewards. Rick could go anywhere and do anything, but he chooses to stay with his family because he's learned the two most important things in life are being with the people you love, and doing the things you love. Mr. Meeseeks would take that away from him. In fact, Rick being Rick, he probably already tried creating a plantation of Mr. Meeseek slaves and got bored with it.

I need to watch this
