My Entry Into 15th Cartoon-Off

in #cartoon-off6 years ago (edited)

I have not owned a TV in forever so I rarely ever watch anything. I had no idea about some changes that went down with the brand Dos Equis. Naturally, these men should feel betrayal the kind that makes you go to another brand.

If you are the worlds “Most Interesting Man” allowing yourself to be shipped off one way to Mars is just not it. Why you would have a stunt double do that and trick everyone by still staying on Earth. That just does not seem like Goldsmith even if he is in his 80’s nowadays. That guy should be down in the Mariana Trench finding some new species and cracking one open in a submarine.

As far as that other guy-- who is that??? This brand is not like KFC where you can change The Colonel quite frequently and everyone is just use to the change. No shock in how things went from my understanding of the matter.

Captions in case it is hard to read:

Augustin Legrand “They canceled The Most Interesting Man”
Jonathan Goldsmith “They sent me to Mars”
Bottom part “Drink Bud Light the calories won’t betray you”

As such I sort of see this like a poster that could be hanged up all over everywhere as an advertisement! Old school badass styling sticking it to the man, in the end, going on his next adventure funded by another company.

Information

This is my entry into @corpsvalues contest 15th #Cartoon-off. The image is used from that post as well.

Good luck everyone that was a fun one to make! Also great to catch up on some history I was not aware of. What is the world coming to sending Goldsmith to freaking Mars!!!!! Out of their minds, that is for sure.

Sort:

I didn't even realize that they had cancelled him. That's too bad for them because he was iconic. Jonathan Goldsmith is now doing ads for Astral tequila and they're basically the same character. That can't be good for Dos Equis.

Oh wow that not even owned by Moctezuma Brewery like Dos Equis is. Well good on them on keeping it going!

I think they should have just kept Jonathon Goldsmith =) nice caption and research

Indeed, like who the fuck is this other guy lol.

It's the situation that marketing departments create when they try to restructure a brand image to "appeal to the younger crowd" and make a product "sexier." It doesn't always work. I mean, "the most interesting man" was iconic, like one of the original memes. That would be like Coca Cola ditching their signature colors and text style or Caterpillar tractors deciding to color change to pink.
