In 15 years, people will stop driving cars, says an expert whose predictions have come true earlier. Tony Seba, a serial Silicon Valley entrepreneur, and an instructor in Entrepreneurship, Disruption and Clean Energy at Stanford’s Continuing Studies Program, says that by by 2030, 95% of people won’t own private cars which will wipe off the automobile industry.

I think he may be wrong on this one.

I think it's a good shout considering here in the UK, most people are leasing their cars because they can get a higher spec car that they wouldn't normally be able to afford and they hand it back after 2/3/4 years. The servicing and MOT is also covered.
I can see why though because buying a used car to then find out weeks later that it needs money spent on it and sometimes a lot of money. Especially now with all the electrics side of things and it's only the dealer that will be able to sort these problems out unless an independent garage pays silly money for a license to do the same work as the dealer.
So yeah I can see this prediction being fairly accurate.

Time and again people are being forced into renter status. I see this happening through a series of changes. Uber, is the first!. Now we have vehicles being tracked as taxi like services all over the United States. This will only serve to act as a fine tuning mechanism for driverless cars on the GPS network. Driverless cars will be the second tool used to transform the carscape! Once we have driverless cars swarming all over the roads we will see a huge drop in the desire for ownership. Cars will be tools for profit for big businesses. While cars are a huge expense for the individual they are also huge liabilities.

Most peoples cars sit in their garage, driveway or in some parking lot most of the day. Why would they want to incur the expenses of owning and upkeep on a vehicle.

Not everyone will move to renter status, but a huge majority of the population will. Kind of like people still wanting a land line and a cell phone. Many people in the younger generations will no longer want a land line because they will choose to bring their phone with them everywhere.
