To the untrained eye, this factory paint finish looks great!

But when your sweetie is a world-class paint guy, you start to see things differently.

We had a client drive this brand new Corvette out the factory door and right over to our shop. He's spent a pretty penny on this beauty ​and wanted to make sure the paint looked its best from day one. We were going to apply Ceramic Pro to the finish. It's basically a sacrificial layer of ceramic coating. You can try to scratch a Ceramic Pro finish, throw acid on it, even light it on fire, and you can't damage the finish. It's CRAYZEE.

With a cursory glance, it looked perfect to start.

With closer inspection, my SO found orange peel and other paint flaws.

That might sound surprising, but it's actually very common with production cars. The factories have standards, and they meet those standards ​but don't typically exceed them. On a scale of 1-10, you'll probably get an 8-9 from the factory.

At our shop, the scale STARTS at 10 and goes up. They're that OCD about the finish of the restorations that roll out of here.

That's actually why we started offering Ceramic Pro coating. With as much as our Porsche and Volkswagen restoration clients pay for dead-nut straight, super-shiny paint and polish (you don't even want to know what most spend on that part of their project alone)... we felt like it was important to offer the best possible protection for their investment.

Now, you might be eyeballing this particular vehicle and saying, "Wait... you said Porsches and Volkswagens?"

Yes. However, we'll apply Ceramic Pro to any make or model - even on boats and RVs if clients are so-inclined. The only trick is that once this stuff is on, it's ON. So if you've got any paint flaws, scratches, orange peel, tiger striping, etc., you've got to go through a color correction process first.

Worth it? Only if you want your ride to shine for YEARS without polishing it.
