Silverstone Classic weekend - 1

Silverstone is an awesome event. The organisation required for this is massive.

We arrived yesterday evening. The campsite is up and running smoothly. Stewards in place, ready and willing to help in every eventuality. If they don’t have the answer to a query, they will find out ASAP.
The site is well drained (we know from last year) and the facilities are clean and tidy, maintained by a small army of staff.

On to the event itself.
Car parks are allocated for the different clubs and again, are seamlessly organised, ticking over like a well tuned engine. Everyone we’ve encountered is cheerful, polite and happy to help.
Regular shuttle busses for inside and outside the track perimeter mean you’re not long waiting before you’re on your way to the next point of interest.

Friday is the warm-up for the weekend of racing. Qualifying runs for the Saturday and Sunday races is ongoing for most of today.
Quieter than either Saturday or Sunday, Friday is the perfect time to get bearings and figure out positions for 5he racing to come. If you get bored (you won’t), there are stalls and stands to browse and buy from, as well as a FREE funfair, courtesy of Jet.
Ace Cafe have a stand here, in front of their official Silverstone Ace Cafe site and the Silverstone Cafe is, as I’ve always found, great quality food for a good price.

Of course, burger vans and coffee stands are dotted around, with donuts and candy floss, ice cream and other goodies for the sweet of tooth.

All in all, Silverstone seems to have it down to a fine art.

Well done, Silverstone, it’s been a cracking start to the weekend.

Gotta love it when they do an event like this right! I could spend a lot of time on the old cars even if they weren't racing this weekend :)
