i30N by Hyundai review and road test

in #cars6 years ago (edited)

We drive the latest offering from Hyundai, the i30N - If your wanting a hot hatch that can perform and gives you a real drivers experience, you need to step behind the wheel of the Twin Turbo i30N from Hyundai.

Did I really say Twin Turbo? Yes and it puts out 250PS propelling you to 62 in 6.4 seconds. This is a first for Korean car manufacturer Hyundai, and they have set the bar high, extremely high. This car with its 2 litre petrol engine will do 155mph, and after driving it, I have no trouble in believing that.

It handles like a hot hatch of old, has a short shift manual 6 speed gearbox, front wheel drive and tight steering, combine this with road holding and handling which rivals that of a sportscar.

It has progressive power through the gears, and twin turbos mean there is no lag or hesitation, constant power all the time, you just have to decide how far to push the pedal.

The i30N hatchback isn't what you expect, it's comfortable enough to travel on long journeys yet agile enough to cope with the most mountainous of roads at speed, it corners like it's on rails.

The car also has a sorty appearance to it too, subtle changes like the coloured accents and the N badges on the front and rear.

The best part is you can pick one up for just under £25,000.

The video shows Ben and Michael driving the car on a rather cool hill climb route at a closed circuit, see how the i30N performs in Bens hands.
