Setting a new Record In 2017, the world sold more than 1.2 million electric cars.
Sales of cars with electric motors in the world in 2017 compared with 2016 increased by 57% - to 1.2 million units, which is a new record.
The world leader in electric car sales for the second year in a row is China, where the market of electric vehicles last year increased by 72% - to 602 thousand cars sold.
Meanwhile, in the European Union for the year 2017 307 thousand electric cars were sold, which is 38% more than in 2016, and in the US - about 200 thousand, which is 27% more than in 2016.
At the same time, the highest growth rates of the electric vehicle market were demonstrated by such countries:
- Iceland (+ 248%);
- Slovenia (+ 166%);
- Japan (+ 149%);
- Portugal (+ 126%).
According to forecasts, if the market growth rates continue, in 2018 about 1.9 million electric vehicles and plug-hybrids will be realized.
