About Route 66
About Route 66
Okay my friends streemian friends this time I discussed about ROUTE 66. Actually what is Route 66? Route 66 (also known as U.S. Route 66, The Main Street of America, The Mother Road or Will Rogers Highway is a highway in the United States. As one of the national roads, Route 66 was inaugurated on November 11, 1926, although the signboard was only a year later. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California, before ending in Los Angeles with an overall length of 3,940 km.
Route 66 is undergoing many improvements and changes that make the path changeable in length. This path becomes the main route of migrants who go west and underpin the economy of the communities it undergoes. The people doing business along these lines became prosperous as the popularity of this highway increased, and they also struggled to keep this path alive despite threats being replaced by the new inter-city highway system.
Route 66 was officially deactivated (which was eliminated from the US Highway System) from 27 June 1985 after it was decided that this line was no longer relevant and replaced by the Interstate Highway System. Parts of the road through Illinois, New Mexico, and Arizona have been designated the National Scenic Byway (the national scenic road) with the name "Historic Route 66" (historic Route 66). This line goes back into the map with his new name.
Route 66 and popular culture
The name Route 66 is immortalized in various literature, popular music, and movies. Some companies are associated with this path because it is in, adjacent to, or even take the name of this highway.
Since the road through Oklahoma was relatively flat and straight, two chemical engineers decided to test a new type of gasoline in the late 1920s. They said that time managed to run his vehicle up to 66 miles per hour (106 km / h). The combination of the road name and the speed of the car that it has successfully made them name the new fuel type as "Phillips 66", which is still marketed to date.
In 1939, California writer John Steinbeck published the novel "The Grapes of Wrath". This novel tells about the migration of Oklahoma farmers affected by the "Dust Bowl" hurricane disaster to California. The book describes the problems they encounter, including the issue of prejudice and poverty, as they move toward a better-expected life. In the novel, he uses a chapter to describe the westward route through Route 66, which he also calls the "Mother Road", which continues to endure as the nickname of this path. The book was later awarded a "Pulitzer" prize and made this path more famous.
In 1946, jazz composer and pianist Bobby Troup wrote "Get Your Kicks On" Route 66, after driving down the road to reach California. He gave the song to Nat King Cole who then made it the biggest hit of his career. The song was again a hit when sung by Chuck Berry, and has been recorded by other artists including Rolling Stones, Herman Brood, The Cramps, Depeche Mode, John Mayer, The Manhattan Transfer with Oscar Peterson, Asleep at the Wheel and Van Morrison.
Route 66 Cars
The street name is also used television series film, Route 66, which aired from 1960 to 1964 on CBS. The show tells two young men who are adventuring on the American highway.
