Well its that time of year again where we take sometime out to do a service on the car and tidy up any wear and tear which has taken its toll on the vehicle. I kinda like to see it as a way of pampering your car to show your appreciation for all it has and will do for you :)
To be honest im not driving anywhere near as much as i use to so its no surprise there has been some issues which have been long neglected that need some tending to, but the main thing is that the car is running right and has a fresh run when i do drive it.
Splitfires and HKS 30/37
Above you can see my intercooler pipes have been removed and the coil pack cover is off so when can get to the plugs to change them. this is one of the mpore annoying traits which the RB25DET has where the crossover pipe gets in the way of what you need to get to, ideally i would like to get a forward facing plenum to rectify this pain in the ass of servicing, but good ones aint cheap and cheap ones aint good ;) maybe if i find a cheap second hand good one i may stash it for the next stage of the build (also want cams, cam gears and mechanical LSD diff).
But i digress, so we just did the basics for this service oil, oil filter, fuel filter, and plugs. to be honest the car has been really good on driving with only some minor issues in general. i do have an issue to correct with some of the turbo lines being a little too close to the manifold and the heat shielding around those lines shifting position and exposing the line to heat, but they are no big issues.
Well the better part of the day was spent doing the services and tinkering with odds and ends on the cars, but all in all a good day with no hiccups. Could still do with a couple of cans of degreaser under the bonnets, but its all in working order. The cars drive a whole lot better and are ready for a "midnight run" whenever they feel the need ;)
