---- N14 Pulsar Project - Sorting Some Final Issues ----

With the N14 Pulsar Project pretty much finished up there is still some niggling issues which remain. some are an easy fix others are a bit more than skin deep when searching for an answer to rectify the issue.

To be honest I had never driven the car at night, we always did work and testing during the day and when it started turning to night we just packed up and let it be. However, we did take the N14 Pulsar Project for a run in the late evening just as twilight was fading out and we had to turn the lights on in the car.

It seems that the previous owner thought it would be cool to change the dash light bulbs to another colour, its a cosmetic mod and im nether here nor there with it BUT when crappy parts are used or the install is not done correctly it can create problems which can be an annoying task to deal with.

the dash lights are red, well when they kind of work they are. the lights flicker and are very dim. i will assume they are ebay LEDs which have been tossed in with little idea or concern for doing it properly. This job involves pulling the dash apart and replacing the bulbs. bulbs we dont have, so they have been ordered and we play the waiting game ;)

moving on, we still have some idle issues, we have cleaned the IACV, replaced the coolant temp sensor and reset the timing. This has all helped the N14 Pulsar Project idle better and not stall all the time BUT it still has a rough idle. We will be tackling this by cleaning the ERG valve (which is known for jamming in the sr20 motors) and pressure testing the inlet for vacuum leaks.

We have made this test pipe up as we found a vacuum line with a bolt in it, after checking the diagram for where it went it looks like this line is supposed to go to the air filter box, post filter. this will replicate that set up and we will see if idle improves from there. if we do see idle improvement then we will make a more permanent set up. one these issues are sorted we can get back to some more cosmetic upgrades that are chilling in the pipeline :)
