Electric AC Cobra
Electric AC Cobra
During the drive home I got to thinking what would be required to convert a replica Shelby AC Cobra to full electric. The torque characteristics of an electric motor combined with the relatively light weight of a Cobra could spell lots of fun. It could also spell "danger license extinction vehicle". A replica like this could be fun to convert
Part of the question would be which electric vehicle should be used for the motor and transmission? Somehow I don't think a Tesla model S would fit and Tesla would probably take a dim view of fitting there equipment to another chassis. Other options would be a Toyota Prius or a Nissan Leaf, I would probable be leaning towards the Leaf.
Isn't that bordering on sacrilege, anti-gospel or something? "-)
If you said put a jet turbine or something, but a leaf ? haha
Would make for a stealthy snake I guess?
That's why I wouldn't touch an original but only a replica. Given the weight even a "Leaf" motor could be interesting.
You had me until...
What the Hell!!!!
Maybe a BMW i3 or even better and i8 system...
Good point, I forgot about the i3, I think the i8 may be too big.
But could you imagine the i8's 0 -100km/h in 4.4s translated into the Cobra..... with a good set of speakers looping a V8 supercar audio track... can't imagine one of these whizzing silently past me... it just doesn't compute.
I was thinking a sub 4 sec 0-100 km/h. Electric cars are the future, so lets give them some style.
