1962 MG MGA 1600 Mk II Roadster
Next month (11-12 October) at Hershey (Pennsylvania, US), RM Sotheby's will auction this beautiful black 1962 MG MGA 1600 Mk II Roadster. On this auction block, there are great lots described in my previous post :
History of MG MGA
MG (acronym standing for Morris Garages), British automotive company founded in the 20's, presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1955, its new sports car the MG MGA. The series was produced between 1955 and 1962 with the MGA Mk II, the last one.
The MGA 1600 Mk II was produced built during only 14 months (between April 1961and June 1962) with 8,719 examples produced in both configuration :
- roadster (8,198),
- fixed head coupe (521).
The Mk II was distinguishable by the inset front grille, a new taillight cluster and mostly an upgraded engine for better performance.
Specification
The MGA 1600 Mk II has an 1,622-cc inline 4-cylinder engine producing 90 hp. Road & Track magazine tested the car in September 1961 and reached a top speed 170 kmh with an acceleration 0-100 kmh in 12,8 seconds.
On this model, the red leather interior is beautiful (the combination black over red interior is always a success).

Great lines on this car. I love the side view and how the arc of the hood continues on the trunk. One smooth line
Great design, it's one of the most desired after MGA models... I would like to have it in my garage :-)
