History
With the Lotus Elite (Type 14), Colin Chapman developped a road cars thanks to his skills as designer of racing cars with a glassfiber monocoque body tub (first time in the world), independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes... The engine was the 4 cylinder inline producung 75hp. The body was designed by the designer Peter Kirwan-Taylor and the aerodynamicist Frank Costin. On the track, the Elite achieved some successes at Le Mans and Nürburgring.
