America needs a good $6000 car

America needs a good simple car which can be bought for around $5000 or $6000, which is light, reasonably fast, reasonably safe, and which uses this engine:

Such a car should make use of carbon fiber and other modern materials rather than steel wherever possible and should not weigh more than 2000 lbs. There is no excuse for the small car of 2018 to weight 800 lbs more than the small car of 1960.

Things like air bags and anti-lock brakes should be options and not standard equipment. The OPOC engine should require little or nothing in the way of smog equipment.

They are not protecting us from anything by making cars so expensive that nobody can buy new cars any more and most people end up trying to keep 10 and 20 year old cars running until they fall apart.

OPOC engines would provide a giant gain in power density over present IC engines. Even in something like a Nisson Versa, there would be mostly empty space under the hood.
