Toyota revealed the e-Palette concept at the CES. A autonomous (self driving) vehicle platform called Mobility Services Platform (MSPF). The platform can be configured in any way wanted. With the hardware having an open control interface, any brand can apply its own software system to the vehicle.
Toyota president Akio Toyoda explained:
"Today, you have to travel to the story. With the e-Palette system, the store can come to you. By combining a number of e-Palettes, you can create a social hub, and it would be great at festivals.
This announcement marks a major step forward in our evolution towards sustainable mobility, demonstrating our continued expansion beyond traditional cars and trucks to the creation of new values, including services for customers. Having a flexible and open standard is key to providing the best solutions possible to customers."
The concept car at the show was 4800mm long, 2000mm wide and 2250mm high, quite similar but alittle higher than a Range Rover Velar. Toyota expect to have the e-Palette in three sizes, up to 7000mm in length.
Sick. I follow the EV space as well and i hadn't seen this one.
thanks for sharing @driftnerd!
Thanks @theroadtoriches. I love the idea that you can fully customise them. I'm planning to sell my house now, and buy 6 of these, 1 for each in the family :)
