Blast from the past. 1936 Cadillac Fleetwood

in #cars7 years ago (edited)

This is my Dad's 1936 Cadillac Fleetwood V8 Convertible. He purchased this in  2001 as a pile of parts that someone had been restoring in the 1970s, and quit. Over 6 years we went through a complete restoration to original. this is even the original paint color for this exact car. Many parts had to be made, including the front Bumper uprights and 3 of the door handles, which we cast in brass and had chromed.

This is a very rare car as most were purchased with the V12 engine. It cruises easily at modern freeway speeds and is a joy to drive, but it takes about a half hour to put the top down. My brother and I had it up on the lift to add an electric fuel pump as a booster to the stock vacuum style fuel pump.

They don't make that shade of green like they used to anymore. That car i beyond Badassery! Great pics!

That is actually the original Caddy color this came from the factory, It had been re painted several times, and since the body is a wood frame, we could not dip it in acid, sot we put the body on a giant rotisserie and I ground off 60 years of crud rust and paint with several Makita grinders. By the time it was done, I think I had lost a quart of blood to various wire brushes and sharp corners...
