Coolest Toyota car I have ever drived
The car is called Toyota GT86/ScionFRS , and its almost-twin, the Subaru BRZ.
Created by Toyota and Subaru..The engineering of this car was done almost entirely by the brilliant, performance-minded engineers at Subaru, while the styling was done at a Toyota-owned studio. The car has a lower center of gravity than a Porsche Cayman or a Ferrari 360 Modena. As such, it handles like an absolute dream. According to the engineering staff at Subaru, the engine was placed, and then the car was built around this ideal engine placement. It's as far back and as far down as it can..
Rear-wheel drive, 2.0-L Subaru flat four with Toyota’s combination direct-and-port injection, backed by 200 horsepower at 7000 rpm, with 151 lb.-ft. of torque at 6,000 rpm. Engine features 12.5:1 compression ratio, square with bore and stroke measuring 86.0 mm.
Keeping Up
Although Scion and Subaru have separately tweaked their models over the years, most of what we gleaned from our 40,000-mile test of a 2013 Subaru BRZ still holds true for both cars. They continue to share the same 200-hp 2.0-liter flat-four engine and lightweight, rear-wheel-drive chassis, as well as their sleek bodywork and driver-focused interiors. These are still very fun and affordable sports cars, albeit ones with minimal refinement and practicality.
