The oldest Ferrari ever made - that does't even have the name Ferrari
The first Ferrari ever produced by the Enzo Ferrari was not Ferrari at all.
It was made in 1940, only two examples, with the name Auto Avio Construzioni AAC-815.
AAC had modified Fiat engine from the model 508 with 1.1 L and 8 cylinders and the dry sump - typically racing.
If you are wondering what denotes the number 15, it is the volume of each cylinder 1.5 dl.
Power was modest, about 72 cv at 5.500 rpm
AAC was not successful racer and one of two examples was simply scraped :(
It managed to finish 6 races and not finish 8. With the best finish as the second.
Fortunately, the second example was sold to the Enzo's friend who saved it.
It is interesting when you visit the Modena because you realize how close all the manufacturers were. Modena was the center of passionate car builders. Sanguellini, Ferrari, Maserati...
