One of the Best Cars Ever Made - Porsche 959
Recently I was driving nearby Stuttgart and of course, I took the opportunity to check Porsche Museum.
One of the cars I wanted to see was 959, one of only 345 ever made!
The engine was almost 3 liter, twin-turbo, flat 6 with 4 valves per cylinder.
It was enough for 450 hp and 500 Nm, impressive today, absolutely incredible for the late 80's.
In order to put all those horses on asphalt, Porsche equipped it with Porsche-Steuer Kupplung (PSK) all-wheel-drive system.
Performances were incredible:
- 0-100 kph in 3.7 s
- 0-100 mph in 8.2 s
- 0-200 kph in 11.4 s
In 1986, the year when I was born, 959 won Paris Dakar (René Metge). And it was also the second best (Jacky Ickx).
