Ford and Trump at loggerheads

Yes, so Trump slapped a 25% tax on China car imports. And this is because labor costs in China are $0.12 per hour and close to $15 per hour in USA. So, do you think anyone in their right minds will move their manufacturing from China to USA just because of the tax slapped on the product imports?

Am really waiting to see this unfold. Ford clearly says it would want to employ more americans, however, since the Ford Active sells less than 50,000 units annually and the market segment of these CUV's is so competitive, it would not be profitable to build them Active is USA.

Ford is meant to stop making many passenger vehicles, but the Ford Focus Active was supposed to remain. However, this is likely to change now that even the Focus Active has manufacturing and import restrictions that would make in uneconomical to sell in USA.
