Astro-Phycists - 02 - Carl Sagan (1934-1996)

Carl Sagan was born in Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A., on the 9th November 1934. From his childhood he has been a very intelligent student.

After having education in few schools in the city he was born, he had his tertiary education in the Universities of Chicago and Cornell respectively.

In the later period of his life he was attached to the Universities of Harvard and Cornell and was the best known scientist in the U.S.A.

Carl often contributed to prestigious science magazines and made television appearances.

His earlier research work was concentrated on the planet Venus. He developed the first quantitic models for the atmosphere of that planet and established that its high surface temperature was the result of a greenhouse effect.

The famous plaque that carried the description of the Earth expressed in symbols that was left on the moon by the astronaught who landed there, was designed by Carl Sagan.

Carl Sagan passed away on the 20th December 1996 in Seattle, Washington.
