" You always want to be in the place with the biggest and best waves." -- Eric Schmidt

great quote but I would add to that, make sure that you have the skills and board to surf those waves.

A lot is going to change due to exponential factors just wrote a post about abundance and I compare that to a wave of change.

In my metaphor I equate this with a huge wave of change.
Like at the beach, to deal with waves, you have several options:

  • Stand still and try to resist it (see how that works out)
  • swim under it or run away from it
  • learn how to surf it

I'd rather surf it, but need to learn how and probably need to build a board .
If you can do that the place with the biggest and best waves is a great place to be. If you are happened to be caught there and can't surf? Guess how your day is going to turn out?

Thanks for the comment.

Thats an excellent point. You can't really go to a popular surf spot without the capability to actually handle those waves. For example, most people could never go get a job at investment banking and hedge fun management without any kind of background or experience.

So, maybe people need to go find the place with the best waves, or the best powder, or the best chess competition, depending on their capabilities.
